WHAT’S THE INTERLOCK XT?
The Interlock XT is a breath alcohol measuring device that’s installed on your vehicle and only allows your vehicle to start if your breath alcohol test result is below a regulated preset limit.
The Interlock XT allows you to maintain your driving privileges so you can get back on the road as quickly as possible.
IS THE INTERLOCK MONITORED?
Yes, the interlock system records information such as dates, times, test results, engine runs, and engine stops. This data goes to authorities required by your local jurisdiction. Typically, the ignition interlock is monitored and calibrated at one of our nationwide service centers every 30 to 60 days.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT?
You’ll need to an appointmeschedulent for installation, which typically takes an hour and a half, but can take longer on some vehicles.
At the installation appointment, you will need to complete the administrative paperwork, including the contract and lease agreement. You will also schedule your next monitoring check and calibration appointment.
The service technician will give you a user manual in English or Spanish, teach you how to use the Interlock XT, and answer any questions you may have about the device.
HOT OR COLD OUT? NO PROBLEM
Unlike other devices that you need to detach from your vehicle in extreme heat or cold, you can safely leave the Interlock XT in your car in temperatures as high as 185° F or as low as -40° F.
JUST BLOW AND GO
The Interlock XT requires a very simple “blow and suck” technique that can have you on your way in under 10 seconds. Other devices may require you to breathe or hum in complex patterns.
EASY HOW-TO GUIDELINES
Through full text messages on the screen, the XT displays step-by-step instructions on how to provide a correct breath sample. It will also give you advance notice of your next service appointment.
WORKS ON ANY VEHICLE

Turn your key or press start and the device will power up.

What Is an Ignition Interlock Device?
An ignition interlock device or IID is a small breathalyzer connected to your vehicle’s ignition system. The ignition interlock device when blown into will measure the amount of alcohol in your breath to determine if your vehicle can be started.
The ignition interlock device from Norcal Interlock is an easy and simple tool to get you back on the road to freedom. If you’ve been convicted of a drunk driving offence DUI then in most cases you’ll be required to install an ignition interlock device. Based on your DUI offense the court can require you to install the ignition interlock device to your vehicle. Please review the California State Ignition Interlock Laws here
The interlock device is calibrated when installed and when you ready to start your vehicle you’ll blow into the interlock device and if the device reads passed you’ll be able to start your vehicle.
To ensure a sober driver is behind the wheel, the interlock device also requires rolling retests at intervals while you are driving. Any retest you take, whether pass or fail, will be reported to your monitoring authority.

IID Noncompliance
Your driving privilege could be suspended or revoked if you do not comply with your IID restriction. IID noncompliance includes the following:
- Failing 1 time to service the IID within 60 days.
- Failing 3 or more times with the requirement for maintenance or calibration within 60 days.
- Attempting to bypass the IID.
- Tampering with the IID.
- Attempting to remove the IID.
Your driving privilege can also be suspended or revoked if you remove the IID before your restriction period is over.
